About Stephen
Stephen Ruby is a ceramic artist based in Oakland, California, with a studio practice in Berkeley. With over 20 years working in clay, his practice is rooted in a deep understanding of the material and a continual exploration of form, surface, and expression.
Stephen is a co-founder of Merritt Ceramics, an Oakland community ceramics studio, and has spent over a decade teaching and sharing his knowledge of the craft. His experience as both artist and educator informs an intuitive, process-driven approach to creating truly one-of-a-kind ceramic works of art.
